Who is it for?
This service is for children older than 12 months up to and including 3 years.
For children up to and including 12 months, the circumcision can usually be done under local anaesthesia, depending on the medical assessment.
How does it work?
Registration
Fill in the registration form and read the information and instructions about the procedure and the anaesthesia.
Medical examination
A medical examination is needed before the procedure to make sure the circumcision can be done safely. It can take place in Antwerp or Kortenberg, depending on the available times.
Deposit
Once the doctor approves, €200 is paid within 7 days to confirm the registration on the waiting list.
Confirming the date
When a date for the procedure is available, we contact you to confirm it and send the final instructions.
The day of the procedure
The procedure takes place in hospital under general anaesthesia. The anaesthetist assesses the child, gives the anaesthesia and monitors the child during and after the procedure until leaving hospital is safe.
Price, payment and cancellation
The total price is €700, everything related to the procedure included.
This includes:
- the examination before the procedure
- the circumcision
- general anaesthesia
- the anaesthetist’s fees
- hospital and operating-room costs
- the materials used for the procedure
- routine follow-up after the procedure
There are no additional costs related to the procedure itself.
Payment in two parts: a €200 deposit and €500 before the procedure.
If you cancel 7 days or more before the procedure, the deposit is refunded. If you cancel less than 7 days before the procedure, it is not refunded. If the procedure is postponed for medical reasons or by decision of the doctor, the anaesthetist or the hospital, the amounts already paid are kept for the new date.
Before the procedure
The fasting and preparation instructions for the anaesthesia are set by the anaesthetist according to the child’s age and condition. You will receive them before the date of the procedure. Follow them exactly: not following them may lead to the procedure being postponed for the child’s safety.
Please tell us in advance about:
- any chronic condition
- the medicines your child takes
- any allergy
- previous problems with anaesthesia
- bleeding or clotting problems
- fever or illness before the procedure
- cough, a cold or any breathing symptoms before the date of the procedure
After the procedure
After the procedure, your child stays under observation until the anaesthetist allows a safe discharge.
You will receive clear instructions about:
- wound care
- pain relief
- what is normal after the procedure
- the signs that mean you should contact us
- how to reach us when needed
Register on the waiting list
The registration is provisional; the date is confirmed after the medical examination and once a date for the procedure is available.
